Get Support
You are not alone if you have come to Antidote seeking information and support. Tactics of Psychological Manipulation are being successfully exploited both online and offline in freighting numbers.

We Are Listening
Psychological manipulation takes place on a continuum. Its effects on individuals and families vary. Just as the effects vary, so must the support. That is why we start by listening. Over the years, we have heard many painful stories. Our programs are designed around what we have heard.
Because of the stigma around Psychological Manipulation, it can be difficult to find people who genuinely understand what survivors and loved ones are going through. We are constantly working to address the need for better support services, recognizing that one size does not fit all. As you cope with and heal from being directly affected by manipulative tactics or as you work to be a more effective support person for a loved one, we are here to help. We design tools and models that integrate learning and support. What we offer will grow and change based on need. Because we realize the scale of the problem of Psychological Manipulation, many of our programs will be peer-led. We will empower people like you to help others. We will always be listening for opportunities to provide more avenues for support.

Loved ones
Are you concerned about someone whose life may be affected by Psychologically Manipulative tactics but who is unaware this is happening to them?
Recently Walked Away
Did you recently leave a situation where Psychological Manipulation was central to the experience? Or are you just starting to question if psychologically manipulative tactics are present in a group or community you are part of?
Multi-Generational
Did you grow up in a cult-like environment? Are you a second-generation or multi-generational adult who no longer shares the belief system you grew up with and that your family remains committed to? Do you see tactics of PM within your family and community?
What You Told Us About You
We know that your situation is unique. This is why we are constantly working to offer you various tools, services, and information. Those who come to Antidote seeking support and resources typically fall into one of three categories: those who have a loved one they are concerned about, those who have recently left a controlling environment, or those who grew up in a controlling environment.
We strive to offer a variety of programs tailored to your specific situation, whether you want to learn more about Psychological Manipulation and how to address its effects or seek a supportive group of people in similar situations to converse with.
Loved Ones
When someone you love is influenced by psychological manipulation, witnessing the changes the person is experiencing can feel heartbreaking, confusing, and upsetting. It may feel as if you’re losing them, and at the same time, you may also feel blamed or shut out. Others may not understand what you are experiencing, leaving you isolated and alone. The helplessness you may feel is its own kind of trauma, filled with anxiety, grief, guilt, and uncertainty about how best to support your loved one. We understand and constantly work to offer you opportunities to learn more about Psychological Manipulation, to find support, and to build practical skills to help with this challenging situation.
Directly Affected
If you’ve experienced psychological manipulation firsthand, you may be living with confusion, self-doubt, and emotional pain. Those who have walked away from psychologically manipulative environments, even when those environments are online, often find themselves untangling the experience of coercion, gaslighting, and control that distorts the sense of self and safety. The experience of being manipulated is deeply traumatic, leaving wounds that feel painfully vulnerable. Whether this happened in a relationship, online, or as part of a group, healing can feel overwhelming or isolating. We understand and constantly work to offer you opportunities to learn more about Psychological Manipulation, to find support, and to build practical skills to help with this challenging situation.
Second and Multi-Generation
When psychological manipulation affects one generation, its impact often ripples outward. You may have grown up in a family that was part of a community that used psychologically manipulative tactics. Members of your family may still be deeply involved in that environment. This can be a painful situation. We offer opportunities to talk with people in similar situations and learn skills and techniques to heal from this experience and to protect yourself if you choose to maintain a relationship with your family. By gaining knowledge about Psychological Manipulation and practicing specific techniques, you may be able to help members of your family who are still in the environment you grew up in begin to understand the dangers inherent in controlling environments.
What You Told Us You Need
Although every situation is different, our goal is to provide you with tools and techniques that are consistently helpful. One of the most potent antidotes to Psychological Manipulation is knowledge. We suggest starting there. Predators who have an agenda to use manipulative tactics to gain power, money, or influence would rather keep us all in the dark about what these tactics are, how they work, and why they are so powerful. Our learning opportunities are designed to shed light on Psychological Manipulation in an easy-to-understand way. Recognizing the power of the stories of people who have been through this, many of our learning opportunities are built around your stories.
Beyond understanding how Psychological Manipulation works, learning and practicing specific tools and techniques can be extremely helpful. For example, learning techniques to communicate more effectively with someone in a controlling environment. We are working to provide a variety of skill-building opportunities.
Because it can feel like no one understands what you are going through, learning alongside people in a similar situation, and having the opportunity to talk about what you are experiencing in a supportive environment can be very helpful. You may be interested in our Peer-led Supportive Learning Groups.
No one organization can provide all the resources you might need. We are constantly adding to our resource list.
Learning Opportunities
We want to offer you a variety of learning opportunities. Throughout the year we will offer online courses, webinars, and other types of learning opportunities. We will post them on this site, or you can sign up to be notified.
Skill Building
We are developing curricula that will allow students to learn and practice the skills and techniques that have been most helpful to those seeking support from us. Sign up to be notified of our classes.
Peer-led Supportive Learning
It can be extremely helpful to learn with others in similar situations. This is why we have developed a model for learning in peer-led supportive learning groups. Unlike our online courses or webinars, these small groups meet weekly with the same people. There is a different topic of focus each week. They are led by volunteer facilitators who have gone through our training and who have either experienced being psychologically manipulated firsthand or are a loved one of someone who has experienced it.
