Antidote's mission is to eliminate Psychological Manipulation on the individual, community, and societal levels

We create freely available frameworks and resources to prevent Psychological Manipulation and support people who have been harmed.

What is Psychological Manipulation?

Psychological Manipulation is a form of manipulation that intentionally utilizes human psychology to gain power, money, or influence. It is a series of covert tactics, targeting psychological vulnerabilities, designed to control perception and behavior and limit the agency and autonomy of a person or group of people.

No one deserves to be taken advantage of

Today, some people use subtle and powerful tactics—often online—to take advantage of feelings like fear, anger, loneliness, and not knowing who to trust.

These tactics can pull people apart and create cult-like dependency.

More and more people are being affected.

This kind of manipulation harms individuals, families and communities. Danger arises when people are taught to see others as less than human. History shows us that this kind of thinking can lead to grave harm.

Antidote is shining a light on these tactics so we can bring an end to them.

Antidote Works in Three Pillars

Our Scalable Approach

No one group can stop psychological manipulation on its own. That’s why we create easy-to-use program models that can be used in many different settings, such as schools, workplaces, communities, or online spaces.

Our goal is to help people everywhere know how to recognize manipulative environments and are empowered to resist psychological manipulation wherever they find it.

Our approach is to help people learn to recognize common signs of psychological manipulation, not matter if they show up in a group, an online community or even in a personal relationship. Our approach often involves education and support from people who have come out of those kinds of environments and understand what it’s like.
